FIREFIGHTERS from Exmouth were called to the city on Christmas day after a dog fell through ice into the River Exe.
FIREFIGHTERS from Exmouth were called to the city on Christmas day after a dog fell through ice into the River Exe.
Water safety mats from Exmouth were used by the fire crews in their attempt to rescue the pet from the icy water, near the Mill on the Exe pub.
A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire crews tried to rescue the dog using water safety mats and lines.
"The dog did not survive this ordeal despite the fire crews' efforts.
