Firefighters from Exmouth were called to Wilmot Close shortly after 7.30am where they found a fire had broken out in an outhouse of a terraced home, involving a rubbish bin.
The fire crews discovered the fire affected an electrical fuse box and the external gas supply.
Wales and West Utilities and Western Power also attended the scene.
The fire was extinguished using one hose reel jet and the firefighters used ventilation fans to clear smoke from the home.
