A project to refurbish eight town centre finger posts that direct visitors to Exmouth's landmarks has been completed.

Town and county councils have been working together to carry out repair works on the signs, which direct people towards the Exe Estuary, seafront, Manor Gardens Exmouth Leisure Centre and the Magnolia Centre.

They have been given a fresh coat of paint to protect them from future damage.

Exmouth Town Council set aside £9,000 for the scheme, which included a £4,500 contribution from Devon County Council’s community enhancement fund.

It is hoped that the improved finger posts can help bridge the connection between the town centre and other parts of the town, such as the seafront.

Town and county councillor Richard Scott said: “The finger posts are an important part of the infrastructure of Exmouth and the ambition to be the number one destination for visitors in the South West.”
