IF you owe a fine to the court and have forgotten to pay it, you could face a visit from Exmouth police next week and a trip in front of magistrates.
Exmouth police are on Monday August 10 clamping down on unpaid fines and will be visiting addresses and places of work to catch the culprits who have shied away from paying what they owe.
The police believe there are around 22 outstanding warrants for arrest for outstanding fines and officers are determined to bring those who are failing to pay to justice.
During the Operation Payback day, the police will be banging on doors giving offenders one last chance to settle up in full - or go straight to court where they will be dealt with immediately.
The police said offenders who are not at home will be visited at work instead.
Exmouth neighbourhood team leader Sergeant Nick Southern said a magistrate court had been specially set aside in Exeter for the day.

He said part of an offender's punishment often involved a fine and the community wanted to see justice was being done when the culprits failed to pay.
Sgt Southern said: "The court officers work with us on the day. "People will have the opportunity to pay the fine there and then, or go to court.
"You would be surprised how many people pay!
