EXMOUTH detectives are keen to trace a woman believed to be a vital witness after an alleged raid at an Exmouth supermarket three weeks ago.

EXMOUTH detectives are keen to trace a woman believed to be a vital witness after an alleged raid at an Exmouth supermarket three weeks ago.

Exmouth CID has exclusively released this CCTV footage to the Journal of a woman who they believe saw a man who officers want to question in connection with last month's alleged robbery at Tesco Express, in Rolle Street.

Officers said the woman was not in any trouble with the police - but could be a key witness.

Exmouth CID sergeant Jo Hall said: "We are trying to trace this female who may be an important witness and I would ask her to contact us urgently.

"Although we have charged a male with the offence of robbery our investigations are still continuing.

"Part of our investigation is to view CCTV in the Exmouth area. "Moments before the offence took place a female is seen on CCTV walking through the alley that runs from Market Street to Somerfield on Magnolia Walk.

"Whilst walking through the alley this female appears to be looking over her shoulder, watching a male who is also in the alley.

"This female then turns left at the end of the alley and continues walking along Magnolia Centre in the direction of WH Smith and Exeter Road. This is the main pedestrianised area in Exmouth."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt Hall on 08452 777 444, quoting crime reference KE/10/198.

* Scott John Brown, 21, of New Street, Exmouth, appeared before magistrates sitting at Exeter, charged with robbery of £592 from Tesco Express, in Rolle Street.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Exeter Crown Court on February 26.

* A 20-year-old man from Exmouth has also been arrested on suspicion of armed robbery and remains on police bail
