Families have been given the chance to find out about the natural history of East Devon - on two wheels.

Phil Clayton, of mountain bike trainers Trail Adventures, and Kate Ponting, who is countryside learning officer for Clinton Devon Estates and its Pebblebed Heaths Conservation Trust, teamed up to offer guided mountain bike rides over Woodbury Common.

Cyclists were given tips on riding off-road responsibly, and information about the history and scientific significance of the common.

Kate said: “We are pleased that Trail Adventures promote responsible cycling in such an important conservation area, and have enjoyed the opportunity to explain to new and experienced riders more about this special place.”
