THE Exmouth cycle route was hailed as a resounding success by district councillors after they unanimously voted to adopt the Exmouth Cycle Strategy document, to be referred to for all council planning policy.

The document outlines the extensive consultation process that took place, and how it incorporated the views of the public when it came to any changes that were eventually made in the completed path.

These included removing some of the footpaths originally proposed at Madeira Walk, Long Lane/Lime Kiln Lane, the East Devon Way to Hulham Road and the path from Buckingham Close to Littleham

Senior planning officer Claire Rodway said the strategy, by Cyclepath Exmouth Group, was excellent.

She said: "We congratulate Cyclepath Exmouth for a very good and thorough document.

"It has taken six years to produce, six years of hard work.
