Part of an Exmouth cycle path has been closed today (Tuesday, June 7) while a burst sewer is repaired.

South West Water (SWW) is working to repair the burst sewer, on the cycle path which runs between Bradham Lane and Marpool Hill.

The burst flooded the cycle path, the gardens of some properties in Park Way and areas of Phear Park.

A spokesman for SWW said it has isolated the pumping station in Phear Park to prevent further flooding and sandbagged the properties in Park Way.

Tankers are taking waste from the pumping station to Maer Lane Sewage Treatment Works.

Around 200 metres of the cycle path is closed to enable engineers to carry out the repair, which SWW hopes to complete as soon as possible.

East Devon District Council and the Environment Agency is being kept informed.
