Exmouth Community College remains closed

Exmouth Community College – like many other schools in Devon – continues to be closed today (Friday, March 2), due to the ongoing bad weather and the police advice to motorists not to travel.
In a statement on the college’s website, the principal Andrew Davis said that due to the amount of snowfall yesterday afternoon and the forecast of more snowfall during today, it had taken the decision to close the college today.
“While Exmouth is on the edge of the Met Office’s red warning of wind and snow, this warning does cover areas where many staff commute from, which means that there is a high likelihood of staff not being able to get to the college tomorrow,” said Mr Davis. “This will obviously seriously affect the levels of supervision that we can provide.
“In addition, the amount of snow with the forecast of freezing rain, mean that it will be impossible for site staff to make the campus safe by the time college is due to start.”
He said that the college is expecting to open as normal on Monday morning.
“However, if not, we will communicate any decisions to you as early as possible through texts, website and email as well as local radio stations and Devon County Council’s website.”
