EXMOUTH Community College has been designated a ‘Healthy School’ by the Government.

The Healthy Schools Programme is a joint initiative between D Department for Children, Schools and Families and Department of Health.

It recognises the contribution the College makes to helping students understand what constitutes a safe and healthy lifestyle.

It also acknowledges the very positive ethos, the quality and scope of learning and teaching, the dedicated care and support given to students, and the extensive work with partners and external agencies.

It comes a year after OFSTED inspectors said that ‘pupils show an extremely knowledgeable and active commitment to healthy living. Their involvement in the development of healthy options in the school canteen and their high level of participation in sports and activities are impressive.’

College Principal Tony Alexander said: “We are delighted to receive this award in recognition of the commitment of all staff, governors, students and parents to keeping our college community safe and healthy.”
