Exmouth coastguards search for person believed to be trapped by the tide

EXMOUTH coastguard was this afternoon called to check the safety of a person believed to be cut off by the tide near Rodney Point.

EXMOUTH coastguard was called to check the safety of a person believed to be cut off by the tide near Rodney Point.

The town's coastguards were tasked after Exmouth police contacted Portland coastguard.

The search was later called off when no one was found.

The coastguards carried out a search of the Rodney Bay area, near Orcombe Point.

Members of Exmouth's inshore lifeboat crew were on standby in case the boat was needed to rescue anyone trapped by the rising tide.
