EXMOUTH coastguards were on Wednesday night sent to the city to man the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital helicopter pad, where the rescue helicopter landed carrying an injured elderly woman.
The coastguard officers met rescue helicopter 169 from RM Chivenor, which was airlifting a 72-year-old woman with a broken hip.
The patient, from Bampton, in North Devon, was taken the short distance to the hospital accident and emergency department by ambulance.
