STAFF at a new Exmouth charity shop have thanked members of the public for being so welcoming and supportive since the store opened last week.
In aid of disabled former service personnel, The Charitorium, in Exeter Road, was opened last Saturday, December 12, by the town mayor Darryl Nicholas.
The shop belongs to the Access Corporation group, which was set up 14 years ago to help disabled people who are seeking employment and to those who may become disable that want to keep working.
Barry Brooks, managing director of Access Corporation, said: "Everybody has been very supportive since the shop opened."
The Charitorium has a modern layout inside the shop and stocks an array of items ranging from clothes, jewellery to books.
Mr Brooks said: "There are a lot of people who have come in, interested in how we've presented things. We've tried to be different to the norm."
He added: "People are appreciating what is going on at the moment in such as Afghanistan irrespective of Government policies and what is being said with rhetoric.
"It is about the support of people trying to give those who have come back from fighting on our behalf.
