There was a great night of music for charity at the latest Last Night of the Proms concert organised by the Rotary Club of Exmouth and District.
Fronted by club president Martyn Clegg and assisted by past president Graham Kirby, a night of nostalgia was enjoyed by more than 400 ‘promenaders’ listening and singing. They are said to have departed having thoroughly enjoyed the evening and asking for more next year!
Director of music and compere for the evening, Steve Grant, led the way with traditional British songs and airs played by Exmouth Town Concert Band, supported by the Renaissance Chorus.
This year’s concert also paid tribute to Dame Vera Lynn in the year of her 100th birthday, and a special message from Dame Vera was read to the audience.
The concert supported Exmouth-based charity Pete’s Dragons. Graham was supported by Rotarians and friends in preparing the venue and theatre duties.
