THE Exmouth Ceramic Group will next week celebrate the opening of its new community pottery.
The group has been running for more than 35 years and is based in a new workshop in Meeting Street.
The ceramic group's 50 members will on May 28 mark the opening of its new studio, which is being run in partnership with the charity Rethink.
Internationally-acclaimed potter Tim Andrews, from Woodbury, will officially open the new studio.
The cash raised to fund the new studio was raised thanks to sponsors and also private individuals.
The group also raised funds by organising a sponsored walk and autumn fair.
A spokesperson for the group said: "We were shocked to have to leave our previous workshop in 2008.
After a long search we were delighted to be offered the old garage and store rooms at Rethink, in Meeting Street.
"The rooms needed a considerable amount of work to convert them into a pottery workshop."
The Exmouth ceramic Group is a voluntary non-profit making organisation.
Any funds raised are ploughed back into the workshop and used to repair maintain the group's equipment.
* The Exmouth Ceramic Group is holding its annual exhibition of members' work throughout the May bank holiday weekend. Entry is free.
