AN Avenues care home has scooped an award for being the best in the west.

Brandon House care home in Douglas Avenue has won the inaugural Independent Specialist Care Awards.

The Independent Specialist Care Awards (ISCAs) is a new annual event, organised by the independent healthcare analyst Laing & Buisson, as a partner to its long established Independent Healthcare Awards.

It aims to recognise the cream of secure accommodation, residential care, supported living and homecare in the country.

Brandon House owner Wendy Marsh attended the finals last Tuesday in London and her care home is now in with a chance to win the national award.

The national winner will be announced at the Gala Dinner on March 15 at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square

With awards in twelve categories up for grabs, entries were whittled down to a shortlist representing over 30 of the country’s most progressive providers – all of whom are set to become the go-to care companies as more and more services and systems are outsourced.

A spokesman for Laing & Buisson said: “With the keyword of ‘choice’ set to remain at the heart of the country’s care provision, and with local authority budgets set to further encourage commissioners to take a closer look at the quality of care they can secure from independent providers, the event is well timed to showcase those providers in the private and voluntary sector who are excelling at what they do.”
