Exmouth car park to be closed for expansion work

Work on expanding an Exmouth car park will begin this Monday.

The car park at Camperdown Terrace will be closed from Monday, May 15, until Friday, May 26.

East Devon District Council is expanding the car park onto an adjacent site vacated by Devon County Council’s highways department, meaning its capacity will expand from 39 to 112 spaces.

An EDDC spokesperson said: “As the preferred car and trailer parking area for the newly refurbished Mamhead Slipway, the new layout will include parking for almost 30 cars with trailers, as well as an area that will be zoned off to provide free parking for unhitched trailers while users are at sea.

“This will be a flexible arrangement, which can be expanded to cope with additional demand as necessary.”

The council says that while the work is being carried out, there will be no vehicle or pedestrian access to the car park, and walking diversions will be in place.
