An Exmouth campaigner is preparing for a busy week of events coinciding with National Organ Donor Awareness Week.

Steve Gazzard has worked to sign up new donors and raise awareness since his daughter Sarah Wright died while awaiting a transplant in 2012. He has so far signed up 4,130 new donors at 288 events.

His week will begin on Monday, September 5, with a sign-up event in the Magnolia Centre, between 11am and 5pm. On Tuesday, he will be speaking to businesses at Renslade House, Exeter, and on Wednesday he will be attending the Met Office.

Next Thursday, September 8, and Friday, September 9, he will be back in the Magnolia Centre, between 11am and 5pm, and on Saturday, September 10, he will be there between 10am and 4pm, before attending the Bicton Inn, between 4pm and 11pm, where an event is being held featuring music from 12 local artists, and body artist Shelley La Fleur, who will be painting the locations of organs on a model.

Describing his hopes for the week, Steve said: “We are hoping to get as many people as we can. Anybody of any age can sign up.”
