Exmouth Business Awards 2018: event celebrates town’s ‘amazing’ independents

Acknowledging ‘amazing’ local business achievements underpins the annual Exmouth Business Awards according to one of this year’s sponsors.

Paul and Mellissa Bartlett jointly run Dolphin Preschool and Nursery, in Exmouth, sponsor for this year’s Healthcare/Fitness Provider of the Year category.

Born and bred in Exmouth, the couple have a personal interest in supporting such an event.

Paul said: “It is nice to see the Exmouth chamber coming together to recognise and acknowledge the amazing things local businesses achieve.

“Often the town fails to attract big chains, but I see this as a positive, as it allows independents to fill the gap needed by an ever growing town.”

Having watched the last two years’ events ‘from afar’ and seeing a friend win an award in 2015, Paul decided it was time to get involved.

He said: “The healthcare category was a good match for our business, as we already actively promote healthy eating and physical activities.

“We encourage the children to try a variety of healthy foods and get outside whatever the weather. Healthcare and fitness is important and should be important to everyone.

“Exercise isn’t something that we personally enjoy naturally but a provider who makes it fun as well as rewarding for their clients is a credit to their industry.”

Paul says he is looking forward to this year’s awards – his first one yet – taking place at Ocean, in Exmouth, on May 18.

He said: “It promises to be a great evening and it will be nice to network with fellow businesses.

“There are always individuals that go above and beyond; whether that is raising awareness, supporting local charities or trying to introduce something a bit different.

“It will be nice to see recognition for those people on the night that offer the little bit extra.”

Paul said he was pleased to be involved with this year’s awards and hopes it will reinforce the strong reputation Dolphin Nursery and Preschool has already established in Exmouth.

He said: “I feel the business awards has a great profile around the town and having our brand associated with it will invariably help our business.”

The Healthcare/Fitness Provider of the Year award 2017 went to BSL Enabling Services.
