A woman from Exmouth has been shortlisted for a national award for her blog, Caron Cares.

Caron Sprake is defending her title in the health and social care category at the 2017 UK Blog Awards. She will find out if she is a winner at the awards event in London on April 21.

Caron, a champion of the elderly, who began blogging in 2012, said: “I started writing because I believed I could share advice and information I had gleaned after caring for many elderly people, including my disabled mother-in-law.

“This passion of mine has led to me having a voice and I am now seen as a passionate campaigner for better care through social media.”

She added: “Since winning last year, I have begun writing regularly for Devon Life and was recently invited to write for the Huffington Post. It was the highlight of my blogging journey so far and I am delighted to be a finalist again.”
