A new book that takes a quirky look at the Jurassic Coast has been published in time for Christmas.
The Jurassic Coast – A Mighty Tale, by local artist Tim Britton, is a unique take on how the Jurassic Coast came to be.
“I find the story of the Jurassic Coast absolutely fascinating,” said Tim.
“It is so complex and clever, covering as it does such a vast expanse of Earth’s history, and I am wowed by the geologists who manage to read and understand the stories told by the rocks.
“I wanted to turn those stories into something that everyone could enjoy and understand and A Mighty Tale grew out of my own journey of figuring out just why the Jurassic Coast is so unique and important.”
Alexandra O’Dwyer, vice-chairman of the Jurassic Coast Trust, said: “Tim’s book is a delight and we are so grateful to him for his work on it, and to the Fine Family Foundation, which contributed funding to help us publish it.
“For anyone who loves the Jurassic Coast or is interested in why, as a World Heritage Site, it is officially as globally important as the Taj Mahal or the Grand Canyon, this book is a must-read.”
Within the book, readers can discover dinosaurs and fossils, geology and science and uncover some interesting questions about the future of the coast.
The Jurassic Coast – A Mighty Tale, by Tim Britton, is available to buy online for £5.99 at www.jurassiccoast.org/shop and from outlets along the coast.
