An Exmouth apprentice is gearing up for a national skills contest next month.

Jordan Henry fought off tough competition to win a place at WorldSkills UK Live in Birmigham next month.The Exeter College student is currently undertaking a level three advanced apprenticeship in vehicle paint operations with GPR Repairs LTD Paint and Bodywork Specialists, of Pankhurst Close.

He will compete in front of more than 70,000 visitors at the country’s largest skills event after coming top in the IMI Skill Auto Refinishing national qualifier.

Graham Roach, who runs GPR Repairs LTD, said: “I have seen Jordan work hard to get to where he is in the competition. Jordan is a valued member of the team and we wish him all the best for the final.” More than 3,000 registered to take part in WorldSkills UK competitions this year; Jordan and his fellow finalists are training to take part in the finals taking place at the NEC between November 15 and 17.
