COMMUNITY hospitals in Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton will benefit from a new recycling scheme.
Devon Primary Care Trust (PCT) has teamed up with the Devon Partnership NHS Trust (DPT) to be among the first health authorities in the South West to sign a recycling pledge to segregate waste.
It is hoped the bid will increase the amount of waste that is recycled, helping the NHS to reduce its carbon footprint.
A PCT spokesman said: "Waste will no longer be collected together, which will improve quality and result in more being recycled with less waste being rejected and sent to landfill sites as a result."
The contract will also include the safe recycling of electrical equipment.
