Archant

The Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton Macmillan Cancer Support Fundraising Group is ‘desperately’ looking for more volunteers.

New organising committee members are needed, along with helpers who can spare a few hours for events and street collections.

Chairman Marie Doran said: “Unfortunately, a couple of members have had to pull out for personal reasons recently, which has reduced our organising committee to just three people.

“That just isn’t enough to sustain the level of activity we had last year, so it is almost inevitable that without new members the amount we can raise will go down at a time when the number of people affected by cancer is going up.

“Most of the money we raise comes from events and street and store collections.

“We would love to do more, but it just isn’t possible without more people coming forward to help.

“We have a chairman, secretary and treasurer, but are looking for people to help us to organise events or to help out on the day.”

The group, which has raised more than £70,000 in the last six years, meets on one evening a month.
