EXETER Road Primary school officially unveiled their facilities for reception age children this week.

The new classroom is a 'remodelling' of two existing rooms with an extension added.

The project cost in the region of 72,000 of the schools own cash and was a year in planning and took six weeks to build.

A spokesman for Devon County Council said: "The new classroom was paid for out of the schools capital budget and means that children can do activities that they would have done outside even when the weather is bad."

Head teacher Paul Gosling: "We wanted to provide a quality learning environment for our youngest children.

"We are a town centre school and as such we are restricted in the out door facilities we have.

"Our last Oftsed report highlighted a lack of an outdoors learning environment.

"As the new head teacher I saw this as an opportunity to provide a quality learning environment with lots of natural light.
