PLANS were in place to transfer prisoners from an Exeter police station to Exmouth on Boxing Day when a gas leak was reported by Heavitree Road officers.
Officers said a move was made to open six of the cells at Exmouth once transfer facilities at Torquay became too full.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to clear the building of gas after a mains cracked.
The building was later reopened.
