HIGHWAYS bosses said a new park and ride site in an Exeter conservation area will provide air-quality benefits.

Devon County Council has confirmed it will apply for planning permission for the park and ride at the Ide Interchange, on part of the Alphin Brook Conservation Area.

The council's executive committee voted to retain the area's current size earlier this week.

The park and ride is part of a 35m scheme - which also includes increasing outbound lanes from the city and more bus lanes - to reduce congestion in Exeter.
