Exmouth RNLI was presented with £1887 during a wine and cheese evening hosted by the Exe Sailing Club
A cheese and wine night held in Exmouth boosted the RNLI’s coffers by more than £1,000. During the annual event, hosted by the Exe Sailing Club, Commodore Rex Frost presented Exmouth RNLI coxswain Tim Mock with a cheque for £1887.
Mr Frost said: “The money raised came from donations made by our sailing club members during the membership process and also from our end of season yacht race to Brixham.”
He added: “It was a very good turn out to the wine and cheese evening and I’d like to give special thanks to Mary Fagan, Pete and Jacqui Thomas and Deirdre Jennings for making this all happen.
“I was very heartened to see everyone turn up to support the charity.”
RNLI coxswain Tim Mock said: “We were very pleased to receive such a generous donation from the Exe Sailing Club who have supported us over many years, especially with the wine and cheese evenings.
“Needless to say the running costs of the boats and crew training are considerable and donations such as this really help.”
Exmouth RNLI Guild raised £200 on ticket sales and a further £120 from the evening’s raffle.
Guests buying gifts from an RNLI stall over the evening raised a further £140.
