Two 999 calls were on Thursday afternoon made by members of the public, reporting a smoke flare close to the entrance to the River Exe.
Two 999 calls were on Thursday afternoon made by members of the public, reporting a smoke flare close to the entrance to the River Exe. Portland coastguards already been informed the flare had been accidently activated by a local fishing vessel.
A Portland coastguard spokesperson said: "The vessel had to wait for the flare to extinguish before it could be recovered.
