THE sales boss of an Exmouth technology company, ranked amongst the very best in the country, says the construction of their new multi-million pound factory could lead more jobs.
Work on the Eurotech's new factory on Dinan Way, Exmouth's largest private employer and one of the top technology, microelectronics and printed circuit board manufacturers in the UK, begun last month - and is on course to open in the spring, writes David Beasley.
Eurotech has teamed up with Lidl in a site share scheme which will see the industrial and retail businesses operate independently from the same location, and retain 140 jobs and create an additional 25 to 35 jobs at Lidl.
The plans are unlocking land on the current three-acre site for a new, purpose-circuit building factory for one of Europe's largest and most prominent manufacturers which has turnover of about 12m a year.
"We have seen continual profitable growth since our inception in 1991 and we are well placed to further expand our business," said sales manger Tony Cornish. "We plan to continue to grow with the resultant opportunities that will follow."
One of the strengths in Britain's economy over the last twenty years has been the growth in the technology sector, and he said the future was bright having recently expanded their business into central and eastern Europe - and even opening an office in China.

"But Exmouth is the head office and key manufacturing site...and we always look to develop and expand our services from this site."
The new factory and higher specification equipment that comes with it, he said, would see production become smoother and enable them to 'move up a number of technological levels'.
It would also enable them to increase capacity 'widening the range of what we can produce at the higher technology end of the market.'
"This really is a win win situation for Exmouth," he said. "Exmouth gains a new supermarket with the resulting jobs created, while Eurotech reaffirms our commitment to remain as one of the major employers in the area, while securing the foreseeable future.
