I am writing to say that I agree 100 per cent with the letter written by Mr Bob Jasper (February 5). I too am getting fed up of Mr Ellis thinking he can tell everybody else who lives in Exmouth what to think. Exmouth is going down the pan anyway so I personally do not see how anything can make it worse. The estuary site is a complete mess and hardly gives a good impression of Exmouth to holidaymakers as they travel along Marine Way into the town centre - so anything will make it look better than it does at the moment. With the majority of the Exmouth shops closing, we need somewhere to shop. Nowhere else has caused this fuss about ASDA going to their home towns so why are so many of the local residents kicking off about it in Exmouth? Why do most people find it so hard to see the advantages of having an ASDA outweigh the disadvantages by far? Maybe if there was a bit more competition in Exmouth we would not be so highly charged for our everyday essentials. May I suggest the people so against ASDA coming to Exmouth look at the other ASDA stores and see how much people like them.Emma Curtis,(via email).
