Plans for improved PE facilities at Exmouth Community College have been approved by East Devon District Council.
The planning application is for an extension of the existing sports hall on the college’s Gipsy Lane site.
This will provide facilities including new classrooms, changing facilities, a badminton court hall, and an extended fitness suite.
The application states that the new facilities will allow the amount of PE lessons provided for the college’s key stage four pupils to be increased to two hours a week. It says the extension has been designed to be ‘as low profile as possible’, and does not exceed the height of the existing sports hall.
It adds: “The appearance of the proposed extension has been designed to improve the very tired appearance of the existing sports hall by incorporating a different palate of materials that provides a contemporary approach and a dynamic feeling.”
