Children at Otterton Primary School have picked up prizes after raising more than £1,000 for Sport Relief.

The pupils took part in a number of activities on the national fundraising day, including a sponsored cross country run and cake sale, but perhaps the main attraction was a sponsored penalty shoot out, held with Exeter City FC.

This was carried out with half the funds raised going to Sport Relief and the other half to Exeter City’s Football in the Community programme, and the children who raised the most money have now received prizes from Ben Watson, a former Exeter City player who now works for Football in the Community.

The pupils raised £500 for Exeter City, and £1,200 for Sport Relief overall, which headteacher Carron Saunders said was a great achievement for a small village school.
