CAROL singing returns to the marina this year and Exmouth Quay Residents’ Association are welcoming families from all over the town to its open-air Quayside Carols concert this weekend.

This Sunday, December 19, Martin John Nicholls and the Exmouth Shanty Men will host Quayside Carols, a free, hour-long event in the Marina near the Peter Dixon Chandlery.

The event will also feature Christmas poetry readings and local musicians and entertainers as well as traditional carol singing as well as a raffle and a collection for Christian Aid.

Residents’ Association Chairman Ian Dowell said: “We were unable to run an event last year because our key organisers were no longer available and Martin stepped in at the last minute to put on a show.

“It was a great success and we are delighted he has offered to stage it again this year. We are a new community at the marina and we look on this as an opportunity to share our Christmas entertainment with our friends from all around the town.”

Viv Ewings will open her Docks Caf to serve festive refreshments and Jerry Williams is providing the lighting for a ‘stage’ around his Chandlery.

The event is starting earlier this year at 6pm to enable families to enjoy the occasion and visitors are being encouraged to bring along a lantern to add to the atmosphere.
