Children at Woodbury C of E Primary School have dressed for a fiesta to celebrate European Day of Languages.

Everyone was asked to wear Spanish-style clothing, and took part in a range of activities in Spanish, including finding out about well-known Spanish sports celebrities and famous artists, looking at books printed in Spanish and singing simple Spanish songs.

Teacher and languages coordinator Debbie Luxon said: “I am delighted with the fantastic response from everyone - the day was a great success and the decision to make Spanish our chosen language has proved very popular.”

“The children’s enthusiasm and obvious enjoyment was a clear indication of how much they enjoyed the experience.”

Headteacher Nigel Tancock said: “We see it as an important part of the school’s role to provide our children with opportunities that extend their awareness and understanding of other nationalities and cultures – the European Day of Languages has been an ideal occasion to do this.”
