Children at Topsham School have a new base for their outdoor learning after the opening of a new building.
The Shepherd’s Hut, in the school grounds, was paid for with a £4,000 grant from county councillor Andrew Leadbetter, £3,000 from the school’s PTA, and with money donated for the school’s environmental projects and from the sale of the children’s homegrown produce.
School sustainability co-ordinator Justin Vernon said: “Over the past few years we have been developing how we use our grounds in our day-to-day curriculum.
“Our new Shepherd’s Hut will be acting as a hub for our outdoor learning - enabling the children to discover what activities they can do and to act as a teaching base for small groups of children.”
