LIONS’ FUNDRAISER: Queen tribute band ‘Majesty’ will be rocking in The Public Hall in Budleigh Salterton on Saturday, June 9.
The evening has been organised by Budleigh Salterton Lions Club and the Budleigh Salterton Carnival Club.
The evening starts at 7pm for 7.30pm, with entrance by ticket only from Geoff on 01395 445298 or Julie on 01395 442067.
Priced at £17.50, tickets include a ‘bangers and mash’ supper, with a maximum of eight people per table.
There will be licensed bar, raffle and “Irish” bingo.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: An effort was made to gain entry to a property in Deepways between April 17 and April 18. Police say that the lock was tampered with and scratch marks left on the door. No entry was gained.
THEFT ALLEGED: An employee of a high street shop has been accused of taking money over a prolonged period, say police.
999 CALL-OUT: A fire in a back store of a kitchen at Bicton College last Friday led to one fire engine from Budleigh Salterton, two from Exmouth and an aerial platform from Danes Castle and a water foam carrier from Honiton being called out. On arrival at 8.36pm, crews extinguished the fire. The cause of the fire was accidental.
SCOUT HUT BREAK-IN: Thieves have broken into Budleigh Salterton’s scout hut for the sixth time in 12 months – this time stealing equipment including a trampoline.
Intruders broke into the Halse Hill base by lifting up the roof between April 24 and April 30.
In October, £700 worth of equipment was stolen, including compasses, tools, games and maps. Previously, thieves have stolen other equipment, such as tents.
BLOOM FAIR: East Budleigh in Bloom will be holding its annual spring fair and plant sale at the village hall on Saturday (May 19) at 2pm. On offer will be stalls selling hand-made cards, cakes, bric a brac, jumble. books raffle and refreshments. Entrance costs 50p. Although it was decided not to enter the RHS in bloom competition again, this year the organisation will still be filling the village with flowers and money raised from the sale will go towards the project.
SWORD TAKEN: An ornamental sword was taken from a communal area of a house in Stoneborough Lane say police.
CASH BOOST: The Budleigh Salterton branch of Age Concern has raised £356.76 in its annual street collection. Chairman Jenny Tolsher has thanked centre manager Steph Foster and volunteers who collected.
