Littleham Primary School pupils have created a hotel for creepy crawlies and mini-beasts.

A warm welcome awaits any creepy crawlies heading for Littleham Primary School since the launch of Little Buginham Hotel.

The pupils recently teamed up with Devon Cliffs holiday park, where Bourne Leisure environmental and community officer Brian O’Brien helped the youngsters design a hotel for bugs.

The mini-beast hotel was fashioned from old wooden pallets before the pupils got stuck into the internal design, which includes a series of tunnels and slides, where the bugs can thrive.

The youngsters hope their design will attract bugs and wildlife to live and thrive on school grounds.

Creepy crawlies spotted in the playground are placed into the hotel in the hope they will remain.

Brian O’Brien said the youngsters showed great flair and imagination when designing the bug hotel.

He said the pupils went as far as creating marketing posters, advertising the accommodation, which were shrunk down to bug size and displayed inside the hotel.

Exmouth mayor Sandy Sutton was presented with a mayoral chain decorated with creepy crawlies when she officially opened Little Buginham Hotel.

Mr O’Brien said: “It was one of those projects you do that you think ‘wow, I didn’t expect this’.

“The children got really involved.

“It was great time and we learned so much from this project.”
