Pupils from Exmouth Community College have said guten tag to a different way of life on a German exchange trip.

The pupils from years nine and 10 were visiting the Albrecht Ernst Gymnasium in Oettingen, a small town near Munich, returning the visit made by the German pupils to Exmouth a month before.

During their visit, organised by teacher Julia Boswell and husband Derek, the Exmouth pupils enjoyed the local history and culture, and a trip into Munich, during which they saw a traditional oompah band and visited Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena stadium.

College principal Tony Alexander said: “When the German students came to us they really enjoyed Devon, and were very impressed with our school and the friendliness of Exmouth. When our children went there they did not want to come back. They had a wonderful time, and spoke very highly of the Munich way of life and the culture in the very small town.”

The visit to Germany was followed by a trip by a party of around 40 year eight pupils to the north of France.
