Exmouth runners reach national finals

Three young runners from Exmouth Community College are celebrating after being chosen to run for Devon at the English Schools Cross Country Championships.

Year 12 student Alice Kelly, year 10 pupil Martha Ellett, and year eight pupil Laura Barnes, were selected for the county team after they impressed at the South West Championships.

It was a long haul for the girls to qualify, as they previously won through the East Devon Championships, the Exeter and East Devon Championships and the Devon Championships.

All three girls are running against people a year older in their age categories, in what will be the biggest schools cross country event of the year.

The English championships take place in Somerset on March 17.
