Pupils at Drake’s School, East Budleigh, have been presented with a flag they designed which flew at Parliament as part of a national project.

The Drake’s flag was selected from more than 500 to represent Devon in the 2015 Flag Project, celebrating the 750th anniversary of the Simon de Montfort parliament and the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta.

Having previously travelled to London to see their flag flying in Parliament Square, the children have now been presented with it by East Devon MP Hugo Swire.

Mr Swire said: “The 2015 Flag Project enables children to learn about their democratic heritage and invites them to develop a flag design to represent their local constituency. Drake’s School did this perfectly with their design, which incorporated the geo-needle, which marks the start of the Jurassic Coast at Exmouth.

“I was so proud to have our constituency and county represented by Drake’s School.”
