Pupils from Exmouth Community College have been to see a top poet, thanks to Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival.
The festival organised an event for more than 200 pupils from six schools, at St Peter’s High School in Exeter, to meet Daljit Nagra, an award-winning poet who has recently won critical acclaim for his retelling of the Hindu epic Ramayana.
Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival’s David Marston said: “It was terrific to see so many students engage with a story from another culture which is, in some places, quite challenging.
“Daljit Nagra’s storytelling involved colourful animations and sound effects, making it a unique poetry event. We are already looking forward to next year’s festival and finding more inspiring events for young people.”
