Children at Woodbury C of E Primary School put on fancy dress for a visit by children’s authot Jeremy Strong.

The visit was held as part of the school’s book week and, prior to the event, children in all classes studied some of the author’s books.

On the day of the visit, each pupil went to school dressed as a character from one of his books, with many characters involving pirates or vikings.

All the children gathered in the school hall to hear the author talk about his life as a writer and to hear him read from one his books.

He then spent time in the school library with children who had brought copies of his books to school for him to sign.

Deputy headteacher Alison Sparks said: “The children have been inspired by this opportunity which has enriched our book week. Many of them have now written their own stories to send to Jeremy Strong.”
