Pupils from Bassets Farm Primary School were flying high this week after being presented with a trophy in recognition of their kite making efforts.

The youngsters had taken part in the Exmouth Rotary club’s earlier kite festival, where the youngsters designed their own kites as part of a competition open to all schools in East Devon.

Bassets Farm school scooped the award after the organisers recognised the efforts, hard work and determination behind the pupils’ homemade kites.

The trophy was presented to headteacher Sarah Bennett and the pupils during morning assembly.

Rotarian David Matthews thanked the youngsters for taking part in the annual competition.

He said he hoped to the pupils would be encouraged by their win to take part in next year’s event – which has already attracted three schools keen to take part.
