Children at a Woodbury Salterton pre-school will be able to enjoy a new outdoor play area, thanks to the Royal Marines.

Marines spent two days at the Little Acorn Pre-school – based at the village hall - and created the play area by removing an overgrown hedge, levelling an unused plot of land, and laying cement and paving stones.

The Marines carried out the work as part of an assault engineering course held at the Lympstone Commando Training Centre.

Little Acorn treasurer Brandy Schuster said: “The pre-school and the village hall are very grateful for the time and expertise donated by the Royal Marines, and look forward to the children being able to play outside without having to travel to the local primary school, or walk through the village streets to a local play area.”
