An Exmouth primary school is celebrating after it received a ‘good’ rating in a recent Ofsted report.
Bassetts Farm Primary School was visited by government inspectors last month and, as a result, assessors praised the staff for its high standards in reading, writing and maths.
In his report, lead inspector Peter Clifton said: “The progress of pupils leaving year six has been significantly higher than that seen nationally for the past three years.
“The pupils’ behaviour is good. Their positive attitudes to learning contribute to the good progress they make during their time at school.
“Teachers typically provide interesting and well-planned activities which pupils enjoy.
“The curriculum is varied and is very effective in promoting pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.”
Inspectors also praised head teachers Sarah Bennett, saying she provided a ‘very strong lead’.
Mrs Bennett said: “Our school motto is a ‘love of learning for life’ and this is what we aim to provide for all children each and every day.
“It is clear from the report that the superb curriculum that the children is offered enables all of them to succeed.” She thanked parents for their daily support and the ‘wonderful’ comments they made to inspectors.
“A school only thrives like this when we work as a team,” she said.
