England Handball Association coach Scott Harrington visited pupils at St Peter’s Primary School, in Budleigh Salterton, to give youngsters expert tuition of the game.
The visit was made possible as part of the school’s Healthy and Active week, where the whole school has focussed on the feel-good factor and health.
A spokesperson for St Peter’s School said: “Key stage two classes got to spend an hour each learning how to play handball and benefiting from Scott’s expert tuition.
“For most of the youngsters it was their first taste of handball, a fast paced team sport which will be played at the Olympic Games in 2012.
“The children were keen to ask Scott about the realities of being a professional sportsman and gained insights into the need for a healthy lifestyle and lots of training.”
