Exmouth Community College’s American football team, the Raptors, has enjoyed success in its latest day of fixtures.

The Raptors travelled to Plymouth to play teams from the Plymouth Pirates, and the stand-out performance came from the colleges combined Year 11 and Post-16 contact team (playing non-contact flag football) who beat the Pirates’ senior flag team 13-6 and demolished their own age-group flag team 27-0.

The individual Post 16 and junior teams also played their first matches, recording one win and one loss.

Coach Rob Rooksby said: “We are aiming to enter the Bafa National full-contact league next year. If this team continues to progress as it has, they will have a real chance of taking on the best five a side teams at a national level.

“I’m very excited by their progress and to beat an adult senior team is a real credit to them.”

Recruitment for the Raptors’ adult teams is ongoing, for male and female players wanting to play contact or non-contact football.
