Pupils at Exmouth schools have had an inspirational visit from a former England rugby captain.
Jo Yapp made more than 70 appearances for England Women, playing at three world cups, and captaining the side between 2005 and 2006.
She now works as a coach with Exeter University and England Sevens, and visited Exmouth as part of the Sky Sports ‘Living for Sport’ athlete mentor programme.
Jo first visited Exmouth Community College, where she worked with year eight and year nine pupils on team building and leadership skills.
She then visited Marpool Primary School where she ran a tag rugby session.
Jo said: ““I have been fortunate to visit Exmouth in my role as an athlete mentor on three separate occasions, and every time I have been amazed at the enthusiasm of the students that I have had the opportunity to work with.
“The programme allows you to deliver a message to all students - not just those that are interested in sport. It sets out clear values and skills that students can relate to in order to reach their own personal goals, whatever they may be.”
