I read with great delight your most recent report of East Devon District Council's challenge to the Boundary Committee, and leader Sara Randall Johnson's comments that "when you are determined to stand by a point of principle, and to protect the future of democracy in Devon, you have to be brave - and you have to be prepared to put your money where your mouth is".What a relief. I have to admit, I had feared the taxpayers of East Devon would be the ones to pay for the legal challenge, and I am very pleased that Sara Randall Johnson has so publicly committed to pay all the costs of the appeal personally. All we need now is her public commitment not to serve in any way on a unitary authority, should this be the outcome, since she so clearly believes that this solution would be wrong.Douglas Jones,31 Russell Drive, East Budleigh.
